Senn’s Youth Homelessness Bill Signed into Law

Governor Inslee just signed my bill, HB 1905, to reduce youth homelessness into law!

“No young person should be released into homelessness after they’ve been in a system of care,” said State Representative Tana Senn (D-Mercer Island), who introduced the bill. “By providing the supports youth and young adults need to find and keep safe, stable housing, we can break the cycle of homelessness before it starts.”

Developed with advocates for former foster youth and other adolescents housing, mental health and legal aid organizations, and the Office of Homeless Youth, this legislation provides needed tools, flexibility and funding to ensure no youth is released into homelessness after participating in a publicly funded system of care, such as foster care, in-patient behavioral health treatment or juvenile rehabilitation.
