Back to school…virtually

School started today as it has since my kids were in kindergarten – with a pancake breakfast and first day photos. The rest of the day was not quite as originally envisioned. Instead of Ben waking up in Washington, DC to start his college courses or Rachel being on her high school campus for Fee & Photo Day, they sequestered in their rooms for online class.

This certainly isn’t how we usually imagine ‘Back to School.’ But kids are resilient, especially when we all do our part to support them.

The same perspective applies to our democracy. While resilient, we certainly have seen our democracy struggling over the recent months. We must all do our part to preserve our democracy—especially by voting!

I hope your 'Back to School' -- or back to your next zoom call -- goes well. Remember, make some pancakes every now and then.
