I am thrilled to have lead the charge in the legislature this year to win approval for Bellevue College to offer a bachelor in computer science starting this fall. The demand is there from students and from business—and their diverse student body fills an important gap.
The Seattle Times details the issue today in their front page article, Computer science classes overflowing at state colleges. “There is a huge unmet demand,” said Chris Bell , director of Bellevue College’s applied baccalaureate development. “If the state doesn’t produce more computer-science grads, it’s going to have economic problems.”
We are lucky to have such a gem in our district and community!
